Comedy
I write and perform character comedy shows under the name of Pamela DeMenthe. I have created two solo stage shows, that have toured the UK and Australia and I have written a TV pilot for the character, which is in development
.
Comedy has always been a huge passion for me. I have been hugely influenced by Chris Morris, Steve Coogan, and Julia Davis and shows such as Father Ted, The IT Crowd, and more recently Toast of London.
I often gravitate towards the more surreal corners of comedy and a lot of my work has a fantastical element.
I began writing comedy sketches in 2014 and performing them at scratch nights in Manchester. The character, Pamela emerged from regular appearances and developed into a stage show. This show managed to encapsulate my love of surreal, satirical, storytelling. In 2019 I was invited onto the artist programme with The Lowry Theatre to create a second show and in 2022 I began writing a TV pilot with Therese Plaehn from US production company Pretty Good Friends. In 2023 I was shortlisted for the BBC comedy cohort.
